July finished out with Gilbey turning 5. The biggest hit was the DS that Nana and Papa got him. He was thrilled.
And here is Dillon's reaction. Now they don't have to share.
Over the summer, the boys did VBS at 2 different churches. Pandamania at the Lutheran church and Shake It Up Cafe at a Methodist Church. They had a great time meeting new kids and having fun.
We took a trip into Boston to go to the Science museum.
They loved the area where they learned about levers with a huge seesaw.
Gilbey like the space ship.
And they both had a great time learning about electricity. You can't see it here but there are strands of light/electricity touching their fingers.
Gilbey enjoyed dancing in front of this tv and seeing his heat image on the screen.
A gray day in Boston.
Anneke quickly became quite mobile when she figured out the army crawl. We've found her in some odd spots, like under the side table.
Trying to climb the stairs. (As of the beginning of October, she can now make it up the entire flight of stairs pretty quickly!)
Playing under the exersaucer.
Middle of August- this is one of the first times she pulled herself up to a kneeling position.
Having fun with her little zylophone/keyboard.
Gilbey and Dillon played basketball this summer and had a great time learning all about the rules and how to dribble and shoot.
Anneke and Jason had a good time watching them from the sidelines.
Here's Dillon getting his participation trophy. They are looking forward to playing this winter as well.
Beginning of September- first time up on all fours. She quickly progressed to become a very proficient crawler.
Finally! The first day of school. Dillon started 3rd grade and Gilbey started kindergarten. Due to Hurricane Irene, we started the school year with 3 snow days. Dillon, although he doesn't look too happy, is thrilled that he is staying at the lower elementary school in 1 of the 2 classes that were moved due to overcrowding. Mommy is thrilled as well to have both kids at the same school for at least 1 year.
Gilbey had a late start on the first day, so we hung out in the car for the 20 minutes we had to wait. Turns out I should have used that time to go pick up his vaccine records, as the nurse wouldn't let him stay until she received them and I had totally forgotten to pick them up. Thankfully his doctors office had them ready and we were able to get him back to school about an hour after the day started. He had a fantastic first day and loves his new class.
Dillon relaxing with Max after school one rainy afternoon.
Jason was in charge of putting Anneke to bed one night. He did a great job! Thankfully, Anneke sleeps through a lot and I was able to transfer her up to bed a little later.
In the middle of September, the kids and I headed back to PA with my parents for Aunt Jayne's 90th birthday party. The kids and I spent Saturday morning at the York County Fair where they got to ride as many rides as they wanted. They had a great time with their cousins Liam and Joergen. The evening found the kids with sitters and I had a great time catching up with family and celebrating Aunt Jayne's birthday.
As we were leaving GG's apartment the next morning, the kids formed a crawling train going down the hallway.
Anneke is getting into the fall spirit with her cute Halloween dress.
Trying to write.
Gilbey has had a bad couple weeks with injuries and such. It started with a cut finger and an urgent care visit at the beginning of September. Middle of the month, he was bit by something on the corner of his eye, shown below. He finished the month with a fall outside the zoo which gave him a scrape on his chin, a scrape on his hip, and teeth into his lip. Thankfully he's recovered from everything.
Anneke and I got to spend a morning at a farm while the boys were in school. She had fun watching Mommy feed the animals. We got to take a hayride and see cows up close, too!
And we got to play in the pumpkin patch!
The kids had a professional day off from school last week and we headed to the zoo with Gilbey's friend Payton. (This was the day that Gilbey fell as we were going into the zoo. He doesn't seem too bothered, huh?)
The kids enjoyed the "wind tunnel" experience. You can see the wind pushing down Dillon's hair.
And finally, a cute picture of Anneke. She loves to get into the salad bowl and mix things up!
