July 2011

July started with a visit from Grandma and Grandpa Karren.  We spent a lot of time going around and seeing the historical sites.

Here are Grandma and Gilbey with Roger Williams- the founder of RI.

This is how Dillon spent a lot of the visit.  He's already exhibiting preteen moods.  I think we may be in trouble as the teen years come closer!

Down near the Point Judith Lighthouse.

Grandma and Grandpa were here for the 4th of July parade.  We sat in front of the church and had a great day.

Here's Nana manning the church food table.  You can see Papa resting in the background on the right.

Dillon spent most of the parade engrossed in a book.  He enjoys reading so much, it makes us proud.

Reading on the lawn while the band played after the parade.

Grandma and Grandpa enjoyed the band with us.

Anneke finally passed out while the band was playing.  It was a long, hot day for her.

Jason and Grandpa took Gilbey fishing.

He was so proud he caught a little fish!

Grandma, Grandpa, and I took the kids to the Ecotarium one day while Jason was working.  The kids had a blast with the bubbles outside.

Plimouth Plantation was on the agenda as well.  Jason and Johnnie found the people very interesting.

The boys liked the cannons.

The day ended with the men going on the Mayflower.

Here's just a random couple pictures of the kids eating ramen noodles.  They love their chopsticks!

After Jason's parents left, the kids and I headed to Pennsylvania with my parents for the dedication of the gazebo my grandmother had built in memory of my grandfather.

This is the bench she donated after Grandpa passed away.

Anneke enjoying the nice weather on the day of the dedication.

The pastor did a very nice dedication of this beautiful gazebo.

Not the best picture but it's hard to get a good one of metal!  The plaque on the inside of the gazebo in memory of Grandpa.

It was a beautiful day and I am really glad that I was able to share it with Grandma and the rest of the family.
